EVAV:

Extra-Vehicular-Activity-Vehicle. The EVAV is a direct result of the invention of the particle curtain in 2046 which allows highly-charged, low radiation particles to be accelerated and “bent” around a trajectory. Initially used as “raise shields” against conventional and nuclear threats, the Alliance quickly implemented the particle curtain technology into its strike fighter force.

.

Instead of forcing pilots to don bulky and movement-restrictive “exposure suits” to protect them from space upon ejection, particle curtains were implemented into small thruster units onboard the pilots’ seats. Should a pilot eject, the particle curtain would engage and protect the pilot from the harsh elements of space, impact with objects and even plasma and missile fire from enemy combatants. Although early models lacked the necessary power to keep pilots alive for more than 30 minutes, quick recoveries improved pilot survivability by 124% and the lack of bulky flight suits decreased pilot ejections by 43%.

 .

Over the decades, the power requirements for particle curtains has become insignificant, and a single thruster pack assembly utilizing a tri-ion engine assembly can function for 36 hours nominally.

 .

Given this technology, Alliance Galactic Aviation (AGA) implemented an advanced Artificial Intelligence computer into pilot ejection thruster assemblies combined with a particle curtain. This created the ultimate pilot survivability maximizer: the EVAV. Able to withstand multiple direct plasma and missile hits while giving the pilot the ability to rapidly accelerate toward help, the EVAV’s onboard AI is able to maximize energy usage, rations, communications, perform extensive surgical and field medical procedures en route and improve pilot survivability by over 500%. The EVAV system is the ultimate tool keeping AGA pilots alive and fighting when the worst happens.
